Halo: Campaign Evolved — Summer 2026 Release Window Confirmed
An Xbox x Fanta partnership has inadvertently revealed the launch window for the Halo Combat Evolved remake. Here's what we know about the project from Abstraction Games.

An unexpected marketing campaign has brought the release date of Halo: Campaign Evolved into focus. A collaboration between Xbox and Fanta—where QR codes on special editions unlock a Master Chief skin—points to a launch timed with Xbox's summer showcase this year.
A Remake, Not a Sequel
Halo: Campaign Evolved isn't Halo 7. It's a complete remake of the first game in the saga, Halo: Combat Evolved, entirely rebuilt on a new graphics engine with modernized gameplay. The goal: provide new players the best entry point into the Master Chief universe while giving veterans a reimagining worthy of the name.
Abstraction Games in the Driver's Seat
Here's the surprise: it's not Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) developing this remake, but Abstraction Games, a studio specialized in quality ports and remakes—they're responsible for the PC versions of Horizon Zero Dawn and Rocket League. This choice keeps Halo Studios fully focused on developing Halo 7, slated for Unreal Engine.
Summer 2026: Timeline Sharpens
According to The Verge's Tom Warren, the release is expected for summer 2026, far from the franchise's traditional November slot tied to its anniversary. Microsoft appears to be spacing out its major releases: Forza Horizon 6 in May, Halo and Gears of War this summer, Fable in fall.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC via Game Pass, and would confirm Microsoft's multiplatform strategy with a PS5 version also announced.
