ObsCure, 22 Years Later: The French Survival-Horror That Dared

In 2004, a studio from Tourcoing launched ObsCure, a cooperative survival-horror set in an American high school. At the time, the genre was dominated by Japanese productions — Resident Evil, Silent Hill. For a French developer to venture into it seemed absurdly ambitious. Twenty-two years later, ObsCure remains a masterclass in what Europe's independent market could have become if the industry had bet more on its outsiders.
